He began his musical studies at the Porto Music School, under the guidance of Hélia Soveral. He works at the Braga Conservatory since 1996, where he teaches composition and electronic music. Sem pôr em causa o respeito absoluto por Mozart, a nova música foi criada com um espírito de liberdade e entusiasmo, e encontra-se no disco “Mozart Transfigurado”: um arrojado conjunto de temas com muito espaço para a improvisação, a editar pela Artway Next no próximo dia 30 de Maio.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTwo of the most notable Portuguese jazz pianists, Mário Laginha and Daniel Bernardes, dive into Mozart’s music as source of inspiration, recreating, blending, and transfiguring some of his themes. These are recompositions of instrumental and vocal pieces – sometimes recognizable, others less so – all resulting in brilliant themes that they share with their quartet partners: Bernardo Moreira on double bass and Joel Silva on drums, who know each other intimately and possess a uniquely instinctive musicality. This project was born from a commission by the Around Classic Festival to create a jazz concert out of Mozart’s music. Without ever calling into question the absolute respect they have for the composer, the group offers “Mozart Transfigurado”, an adventurous set of pieces crafted with a sense of freedom and excitement, leaving lots of room for improvisation.
