Born in Porto, he completed advanced courses in percussion at the Espinho Professional Music School and in guitar at the Porto Music Conservatory. He obtained a degree in guitar from the Porto Higher School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) in the class of Professor José Pina. He completed his training in Paris, at the Aubervilliers Region National Conservatory in the class of Alberto Ponce. He finished a postgraduate degree in Performance – Guitar at the University of Aveiro under the guidance of Professors Nancy Harper and José Pina. He recently completed the Specialization Examination, Instrument – Guitar, at the Castelo Branco Higher School of Music. He attended interpretation courses with Abel Carlevaro, Robert Brightmore, Roberto Aussel, Alberto Ponce, Tomas Camacho, Leo Brouwer, Betho Davezac, François Dry, Carlos Bonell and Hopkinson Smith. In addition to her solo concert activities, she has performed with chamber music groups, notably in a duo with Hugo Sanches and the Porto Guitar Trio. She is currently a member of L'Effetto Ensemble with soprano Dora Rodrigues, Ciglia Ensemble with mandolinist António Vieira, and the Concordis Guitar Quartet. As a soloist, he has performed with the Braga Conservatory Orchestra in Villa-Lobos' Concerto, with the Porto National Orchestra in the Concerto de Aranjuez, under the direction of Martin André, at the Casa da Música in Porto, the Andalusian Concerto by Rodrigo premiered in Portugal at the 10th International City of Fundão Competition and at the Lagoa Festival with the Concordis Guitar Quartet in the Concerto de Aranjuez with the Orquestra Clássica do Centro, the Concerto Acerca de la Felicidad by Javier Ribas premiered with the Portuguese Guitar and Mandolin Orchestra and with the Ensemble à plectre de Esch-Sur-Alzette from Luxembourg under the direction of Maestro Juan Carlos, and the Concerto Tricastin for two solo guitars under the direction of Composer and Maestro Leo Brouwer. Other projects include the CD recordings “Seventeen Pieces for Guitar” by composer Paulo Bastos, “Now Everything Changes” by composer Nuno Côrte-Real with singer Maria João, and the Ensemble Darcos, a project distinguished by the Portuguese Society of Authors - SPA as Best Classical Music Work; participation in the Ponte de Lima Opera Festival with the Porto National Orchestra in the opera “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” by G. Rossini, under the direction of Maestro Marc Tardue. He has been a guest guitarist with the Porto National Orchestra. He is one of the founders of the Minho Plucked String Orchestra and, in that capacity, organized the Braga City Plucked String Workshop, which is in its second edition. He is the artistic director of the recent Ponte Music Festival.
