About

In the next album release from Artway Editions, the spotlight is on the flute and new Portuguese music. Flautist Marina Camponês and pianist Diana Botelho Vieira have joined forces to address a gap in instrumental pedagogy, where contemporary works by Portuguese composers for various educational levels are notably scarce. This gave rise to Histórias para uma Flauta (Stories for a Flute), a project that involved commissioning new compositions, recording them, and releasing a double album alongside sheet music for all flute students and teachers.

This album highlights the vast stylistic diversity of current Portuguese music, featuring seven composers: from a young student, Inês Pinto, to established veterans like Sérgio Azevedo, Eurico Carrapatoso e Eduardo Patriarca, alongside prominent names in the new music scene such as Anne Victorino d’Almeida, Paulo Bastos, and Daniel Bernardes. Ranging from evocative soundscapes—some folk-inspired, others experimental or minimalist—the music consistently appeals to children's worlds of fantasy and imagination.
