What if music were to lose its rhythm? Or if it disappeared? What if musicians forgot how to play their instruments? Vórtice (para o fim de um Tempo) [Vortex (for the end of Time)] departs from the very possibility of the end of one Time and the beginning of another. It gives rise to a dark and phantasmagorical imagery that is reflected in the show, created and performed during the pandemic period and now recorded on a new album under the Artway Records label, set for release on October 16th. A joint creation by three composers (Catarina Sá Ribeiro, Daniel Moreira, and Miguel Resende Bastos), four performers (pianist Dalila Teixeira, clarinetist Eduardo Seabra, violinist Laura Peres, and cellist Teresa Soares), and three sound engineers (José Afonso Monteiro, Daniel Santos and Ricardo Torres), who together form the Caleidoscópio Coletivo. Suggesting images of melting clocks, radioactive cataclysms, and mystical evocations of the power of water and fire in a kind of post-apocalyptic world, the music results from a truly collaborative creative process, uncommon in contemporary classical music. A seductive and essential album in the landscape of new Portuguese music.
